Geelong v Western Bulldogs

Geelong made it back to back wins in round 18 after dominating the second half in their clash with Adelaide eventually running out comfortable 85-55 winners, that win sees the Cats move back into the top four but with six teams on 48 points they will have to maintain their good form for the remainder of the season if they want to secure a top four spot. Western Bulldogs lost last week to an in form St Kilda side fighting for their lives in a bid to climb into the the top eight, in a game most thought the Bulldogs would come out on top it was the Saints who dug deep and recorded a 75-60 win. The loss has seen the Bulldogs fall to 7th on the ladder but with so many teams stacked up they know a good run from here could well see them in the top four. Should be a good game of footy with both teams fighting for a top four birth but preference has to be for the Cats after their impressive win last week.

Tip - Cats Win $1.30

GWS v Richmond

GWS have now won four of their last five games in a bid to record their first ever top four finish and with only five games to go they are sat in second place and looking good, last weeks victory over the Power was a hard fought one after trailing by twenty points at half time in blustery conditions. The game eventually finished 79-60 after the Giants dominated the second half showing once again that they are a real threat when they have the grit between their teeth. Richmond's season is all over after they were thumped by the Hawks in round 18 114-44, the Tigers tried hard to keep the ladder leaders at bay in the first half but the second half was a different story as they looked tired and slow and the Hawks took full advantage of this for the rest of the game. GWS come into this full of confidence and they will be hoping a big win is on the cards here to improve their percentage record and after the Tigers performance last week that looks the most likely result but due to the short odds the exotics are well worth a look.

Tip - GWS Win $1.10

Hawthorn v Carlton

Hawthorn made light work of the Tigers last week and have now stretched their winning run to eight games, although the Hawks dominated proceedings in their 70 point victory they may be a little concerned with the amount of squandered chances in front of goal after scoring 18 behinds in the game but that being said if your going to have a bad day in front of goal better it be in a game your dominating than a close one against a team at the top. Carlton suffered yet another loss last week but they showed grit and determination in their 74-68 point loss away against the Swans, with the Blues holding a slender lead at half time the third term was the deciding factor as Sydney dominated proceedings and went into the last quarter seven points in front and although the Blues pressured in the last term they were unable to overturn the deficit. The Hawks deserve to be such a low priced favourite for this after their impressive run but this will have to be another game were the exotics are the best option.

Tip - Hawks Win $1.05

Collingwood v West Coast

Collingwood suffered their second consecutive loss last week meaning their season is over for another year, trailing by 39 points at half time the Pies came out firing in the third quarter and got to within 17 points on the Kangaroos before North kicked on once more as the Pies started to feel the pace of the game and they eventually went down 124-84. West Coast made it five wins from their last five matches in round 18 when they just scraped over the line against the Demons in a low scoring affair that finished 66-60, the Eagles who were behind and outplayed for the majority of the game dug deep in the final term and held on for a much needed victory. The Eagles will know that they burgled the Demons last week but the result still means four points no matter how you get them. A better performance will be need by the Eagles here but they have shown lately they can win on the road and they are preferred against a team that has nothing to play for after their loss last week.

Tip - Eagles Win $1.62 Take The Line $1.92 -8.5 Eagles

Brisbane Lions v Port Adelaide

Brisbane finally got back to winning ways after suffering a club record twelve defeats on the spin when they defeated the Bombers last week in a game that would almost certainly decide the wooden spoon for this year. The Lions dominated the game throughout eventually winning comfortably 128-91, in a season that has seen far more downs than ups the Lions can only try to improve each week with their young team in preparation for next season and they will have to lift once again this week if they are to challenge. The Power went down last week to the Giants 79-60 after holding a handy lead at half time in terrible playing conditions at the Adelaide Oval but in the second half Port were unable to stop the Giants from converting possession into points. With that loss the Power sit three wins outside the top eight and they would need a miracle to qualify for the finals but while there is hope they will still believe. Very short price the Power but they should get the job done but it could be too little too late.

Tip - Power Win $1.12

North Melbourne v St Kilda

After slipping down to 8th on the ladder from top spot the Kangaroos finally got back to winning ways last week when they defeated the Pies in a do or die game for both teams. That win sees North eight points clear of the Saints in 9th and they will know another win will possibly be enough for them to reach the finals after an incredible up and down season. St Kilda made it four wins from five games when they shocked the Bulldogs in round 18 keeping their finals hopes alive in the process, in a tight game it was the Saints who found just enough to edge out their opponents 75-60 moving them up to 9th on the ladder. A lot on the line here with 8th and 9th coming together and with St Kilda in season best form it should be a close game but preference is for North who showed last week they still had some fight left in them and that they may not be done with yet after their fall from grace.

Tip - Kangaroos Win $1.55

Melbourne v Gold Coast

The Demons will be scratching their heads after last weeks defeat against the Eagles wondering how the game that they dominated got away from them. The Demons led the low scoring game for the majority but two quick goals in the last term swung the game the Eagles way and they Demons couldn't respond eventually going down 66-60. The Suns made it three wins from four games in round 18 when they defeated Fremantle 105-81 at Metricon Stadium with a injury ravaged team, with the game in the balance midway through the third term it was the Suns who found an extra gear to pull away for victory. Although the Demons have only won one of their last five games the Suns have only recorded one win on the road this season so preference has to be for Melbourne.

Tip - Demons Win $1.20

Fremantle v Sydney

The Dockers have now lost four games on the trot after going down 105-81 away to the Suns last week, after a tight first half the Suns managed to get their heads in front midway through the third term meaning the Dockers had to chase the game from there on in. With so many players out injured for the Suns you always thought that the game was still winnable for the Dockers even though they trailed by 13 at three quarter time but once again the Dockers showed us nothing of the team that graced us last year and they tamely fell away for the loss. Sydney are back up to third on the ladder after their win last week against Carlton but they will be mightily relieved after being run all the way by the Blues in a game the Swans were expected to win comfortably. The game finished 74-68 to the Swans who had to dig deep in the second half after finding themselves behind at half time, four goals in the third term helped the Swans to a much needed victory in their bid for a top four finish and they will now look to put last week behind them with a better effort here. Cannot back against the Swans in this with the Dockers in such poor touch this season.

Tip - Swans Win $1.22

Adelaide v Essendon

Adelaide's good run came to an end last week when they were defeated 85-55 by Geelong in a top four clash that now sees the Crows slip down to 6th on the ladder. Adelaide have a good run of fixtures for the next few weeks starting here with the Bombers then they face the Lions and the Dockers in consecutive weeks which should result in 12 points and they can make a big push for the top four before they have to play Port and the Eagles. The Bombers lost the so called wooden spoon game last week against the Lions meaning they are now rooted to the foot of the table all on their lonesome, they do have two winnable games to come in the run in but this is not one of them and they will be hoping just for a good showing and not a flogging. No price the Crows the win which is understandable so the exotics it will have to be with possibly top goal scorer markets for Adelaide looking favourable.

Tip - Crows Win $1.01
