Roosters v Broncos

Sydney suffered yet another defeat last week when they went down 26-10 away against an in form Storm outfit, the Roosters came out of the blocks quickly scoring the first try of the game after only four minutes but the Storm hit back quickly and levelled the game ten minutes later and from then on in it was all Melbourne who ran in another three tries before the Roosters managed a consolation try right on the siren. Although the Roosters lost the game it was a marked improvement from their round 14 clash with the Storm when they were thumped 46-0 in front of their home crowd. Brisbane have now lost six of their last eight games after suffering their second home defeat in as many games at the hands of the Panthers in round 20, it is an alarming turn around in form for the Queensland side who are now under real pressure from teams below them. Although the Broncos have been struggling of late they are against a team that are also struggling and with the Broncos needing to stop the rot in a bid for a top eight spot they may be worth another chance.

Tip - Broncos Win $1.67

Bulldogs v Dragons

The Bulldogs were given a footballing lesson last week when they travelled to North Queensland to face the Cowboys, undefeated at home this season the Cowboys made light work of the Bulldogs running out 36-0 winners in a one sided game from the off. It will be a concern to the Bulldogs that they were so easily dispatched against one of their rivals at the top of the ladder and they will know a complete rethink is needed for future contests. St George suffered their third consecutive loss last week when they went down once again at home this time at the hands of the Tigers 25-12, the game started well for the Dragons with a try inside five minutes but three Tigers tries before halftime meant the Dragons would have an uphill battle for the remainder of the game which they were once again found wanting. With the Dragons in a slump and their poor away record this season it is hard to see the Bulldogs not coming away with the two points.

Tip - Bulldogs Win $1.20

Warriors v Panthers

Another team that are struggling to break into the top eight are the Warriors who after suffering their second successive defeat in round 20 now sit 9th two points behind 8th place. The Warriors game against the Raiders last week looked all but over after Canberra ran in their fourth try to sail out to a 22-4 lead with only ten minutes to go but some inspired play in the last ten minutes from the New Zealand side saw them level the game on the siren when Issac Luke converted David Fusitu'a last gasp try. That try sent the game into extra time but unfortunately the Warriors were undone early in the first period when Jarrod Croker went over for the winning try and sealing the game for the Raiders 26-22. Penrith made it back to back wins in round 20 when they defeated the out of form Broncos up at Suncorp Stadium, three first half tires sent the Panthers out to a 18-0 half time lead and from then on in the Panthers played a solid kicking game to nullify the Broncos and seal the win. This one all depends on which Warriors team turns up in the first half, if they come out playing expansive footy then they should walk away with the points but they are shaky to say the least when it comes to consistency so it wouldn't surprise me if the Panthers turn them over.

Tip - Warriors Win $1.60

Eels v Wests Tigers

The Eels suffered their second consecutive defeat in round 20 away at the Titans which officially ended their chances of finals football in a troubled season, the writing was on the wall early for the Eels as they conceded three tries inside the first twenty minutes and while they managed to claw one back before the break they never looked like overturning a 14-4 half time deficit. The Tigers got back to winning ways last week with an impressive victory over the Dragons eventually running out 25-12 victors, with that win the Tigers move above the Dragons on the ladder into 10th place and have put themselves right back into the mix for a finals birth. Although the Eels have suffered a downturn in form recently they still hold a positive 5-4 home record while the Tigers are still 3-6 away this season so a chance can be taken on the Eels to bounce back here at a good price.

Tip - Eels Win $2.90

Cowboys v Storm

Game of the round here with both teams in form and fighting it out for a top four spot this season,  the Cowboys ripped the Bulldogs apart last week in a 36-0 drumming in front of their home support extending their impressive home form this season to 9-0 but with an injury concern to their inspirational captain Thurston who had to leave the field early in the second half last week due to a hamstring issue the Cowboys could well find themselves without their star player in this crucial encounter. Melbourne kept the pressure on the ladder leaders last week with a workman like victory over the struggling Roosters at AAMI Stadium eventually running out comfortable 26-10 winners after going behind early, 26 unanswered points after conceding a try inside the first five minutes was enough for the Storm to take a valuable two points. This game may all hinge on whether Johnathan Thurston is fit to play or not, if he is the Cowboys are a great price at 2's to maintain their 100% home record but if he is on the sidelines it may well be a different story.

Tip - Cowboys Win $2.00

Rabbitohs v Raiders

After last weeks home defeat the Rabbitohs are another of the also rans this year in the race for the premiership, early on this season things were looking rosy for the Bunnies but seven consecutive defeats has left them languishing in 13 place and their season is officially over. Last weeks must win games against the Sea Eagles saw them go in at half time 18-0 down and although they put up a fight in the second half the damage was already done with the game eventually  finishing 20-12. The Raiders have now reeled off four wins on the spin and how now moved into the top four on the ladder, last weeks game saw them defeat the Warriors in extra time 26-22 after blowing a healthy lead with only ten minutes to go. Although their performance in the closing stages may well be analyzed during the week they will still be more than happy with the two points. With the Rabbitohs woefully out of form and nothing to play for now it may well be worth picking the Raiders to extend their winning run to five here.

Tip - Raiders Win $1.38

Sea Eagles V Knights

Manly made it three wins on the spin in round 20 when they downed the Rabbitohs 20-12 at Allianz Stadium, while they are still two wins outside the top eight their upturn in form couldn't have come at a better time and they will know this is another opportunity to put pressure on the teams above them. Newcastle look destined to finish at the bottom of the ladder after another defeat in round 20 this time at the hands of the ladder leaders the Sharks. The writing was on the wall as early as the 6th minute when Jack Bird went over for the Sharks first try of the night and another before half time would see the Knights go in at half time 10-0 down and in need of a better second half performance which never came as Cronulla pilled on the pressure from the off in the second half and ran out comfortable 36-4 winners. Another great opportunity here for the Sea Eagles and they should extend their winning streak to four at the expense of the Knights.

Tip - Sea Eagles Win $1.10

Titans v Sharks

Gold Coast made it back to back wins last week when defeating the Eels 34-14 at home and that win lifted them to 7th place on the ladder on 22 points, three tries inside the first twenty set the Titans on their way to a comfortable victory in a game they needed to win to keep pace with the teams fighting it out for the top eight. Cronulla have now won 15 games straight after making light work of the struggling Knights 36-4 and remain two points clear of the Storm at the top of the ladder. They now know two more wins would seal their place in the top four this season and with one of the easier run ins they will be looking to remain unbeaten up until round 26 when they take on the Storm. Both teams are playing at the top of their game but Cronulla seem to be a class apart recently and they can extend their winning run once again.

Tip - Sharks Win $1.44 Take The Line $1.90 -6 Sharks
