After a fifteen game winning streak it was the Titans who put a halt to the Sharks impressive record with an 18-18 draw in round 21 but the point gained by Cronulla still keep them at the top of the ladder but the gap has been cut to just one point and the Storm recorded a valuable win away against the Cowboys. Dragons v Broncos

The Dragons suffered their fourth consecutive loss last week when they were defeated 13-10 away at the Bulldogs but the Dragons showed that they may not quite be done for the year with a second half performance of the highest standard that so nearly saw them snatch victory from the jaws of defeat after trailing 13-0 at half time. It was a rear guard action from the Bulldogs defence that thwarted the Dragons but St George will know if they play the rest of the regular season like that that they may well sneak into the finals. Seven losses in their last nine games now for the Broncos after the Roosters humbled the Brisbane side in their 32-16 victory at Allianz Stadium, The Broncos are still in 6th place but with teams clambering all over them in a bid to play finals footy and unless they get their act together quickly they could well find themselves outside the top eight. With both teams in a rut this game is the perfect opportunity for one of them to get back on track and although the Broncos are very skinny in the market to back them they are still deserved favourites and are the logical choice.

Tip - Broncos Win $1.22

Eels v Sea Eagles

Parramatta suffered their third defeat on the spin in round 21 when they lost at home to the Tigers 23-8 in a game they were always chasing after the Tigers scored two tries inside the first fifteen minutes. The Eels did manage to close the gap with a try just before half time but they were unable to put any pressure on the Tigers in the second half. Due to the salary cap infringement the Eels find themselves a shadow of the team that started the season and they are now suffering on the field with key players either sitting on the sidelines or moved on to other clubs. Manly notched up their fourth win in succession in round 21 when they defeated the Knights 36-16 due to a dominant first half performance which saw them run in five tries equating to a 26-0 half time lead, the game was pretty much over from that point meaning another two points in the bag for the Sea Eagles who now sit only one win outside the top eight. On current form the Eagles should walk away with the two points but they are way too short of a price for me and while they may well win the game I am going to plump for the Eels and big odds to bounce back to form.

Tip - Eels Win $3.3

Knights v Bulldogs

Newcastle were torn apart in the first half last week against the Sea Eagles conceding five tries and 26 points before half time, the second half performance from the Knights was better but the game was already over meaning their 17th loss in a season they will want to forget. Canterbury scraped over the line last week thanks to a mammoth defensive effort against the Dragons in their 13-10 victory moving them level on points with the Cowboys in fourth after their loss to the Storm. With the Bulldogs taking a 13-0 lead into the half time break most thought the game was over but a spirited effort by the Dragons in the second half meant the Bulldogs had to dig deep to gain the two points and the win. A perfect opportunity for their Bulldogs to put even more pressure on the teams above them and with the Knights in dire straights it should be another two points for them.

Tip - Bulldogs Win $1.14

Sharks v Raiders

After fifteen straight wins the Sharks impressive run finally came to an end last week when they were held to a draw against the Titans, the lead changed hands several times during the game and after 80 minutes the sides couldn't be separated at 18-18 and that's the way the score remained even after two periods of extra time. Although the winning streak has come to an end the Sharks are still sixteen games without a loss and the point gained keeps them at the top of the ladder. Canberra are going along quite nicely after notching up their fifth win on the spin when they easily dispatched the out of form Rabbitohs 54-4 last week moving them up to third on the ladder and the Raiders are looking good for a top four spot with only five round to go. Should be a hard fought game with both teams at the top of their game but preference has to be for the Sharks who are ten from ten at home this season and the Raiders do not always put their best foot forward on the road.

Tip - Sharks Win $1.55

Storm v Rabbitohs

Melbourne Storm put in a near perfect performance in round 21 when they defeated the Cowboys 16-8 at 1300SMILES Stadium ending the Cowboys perfect 9-0 home record in the process, two tires inside the opening fifteen minutes gave the Storm the cushion they needed and with the rest of the game being played at both ends of the field it was the defence of both teams that stood up to the challenge from there on in. The Rabbitohs suffered a humiliating loss last week in front of their home support going down 54-4 against the Raiders and they will quickly want to forget the second half of the season and start preparing for next year after losing their last eight games. With the Bunnies so much out of form this will be another opportunity for the Storm to showcase their premiership potential and with the way they have been playing of late the Rabbitohs may find themselves once again on the wrong end of a shellacking.

Tip - Storm Win $1.1

Titans v Warriors

Although the Titans were held to a draw in round 21 they will be more than happy at taking something off the ladder leaders after the way the Sharks have been playing this season and the point gained may well be invaluable come the end of the regular season. The game finished 18-18 after extra time as neither team could find a way to break the deadlock in a keenly contested affair and with a home fixture here the Titans will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to four games. The Warriors climbed back into the top eight with a 20-16 victory in extra time over the Panthers last week at home after a brilliant individual try in the 89th minute from Shaun Johnson sealed the victory and the two points. With a poor record away from home (3-7) the Warriors will know the importance of a good performance here against a team one point above them on the ladder. Should be a good game here with both teams capable of the win but the Titans are playing some good footy at the moment and with the home advantage they may well just edge it.

Tip - Titans Win $1.72

Wests Tigers v Cowboys

Wests Tigers made it back to back victories last week when they dispatched an undermanned Eels outfit 23-8 at ANZ Stadium keeping their finals hopes well and truly alive. With what seems like seven teams fighting it out form the last three finals spots they will know the importance of the remaining games if they are to play on after round 26 this year. The Cowboys suffered their first home defeat of the season last week when they were beaten 16-8 against an impressive Storm outfit, with Johnathan Thurston on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury sustained the week before the Cowboys lacked the cutting edge in the final third of the field which the inspirational skipper usually provides. One of the games of the round with both teams in relatively good form and a lot may once again be decided on with the inclusion or exclusion of Thurston, preference is for the Cowboys to bounce back from last week with or without their skipper.

Tip - Cowboys Win $1.42

Panthers v Roosters

The Panthers slipped outside the top eight after last weeks 20-16 extra time loss against the Warriors and with a home fixture here and the Knights next week they will be hoping for four points from their next two games before they have to face three of the other six teams fighting it out for three finals spots. Sydney played their best game of the season in round 21 dispatching the Broncos 32-16 in front of their home support, too little too late some may say but with all their injury concerns this season they will be more than happy that most of their injury crisis is over and they can now look to build for next season. This game will all depend on whether the Roosters can perform at the same level as they did last week which is a major doubt after their poor season so preference is for the Panthers who are consistent most weeks are will be spurred on with the knowledge they may well be back in the top eight after this round.

Tip - Panthers Win $1.62 Take The Line $1.90 -4 Panthers
